This year the luncheon was hosted by members of the Book Exchange interest group. Thank you to the organizing committee, Marilyn Jackson, Barb Kirkham, Mary Miller, Susan Pine, and Cathy Warren. A big thank you also to the young ladies from Abigail’s Learning Centre who volunteered their time to assist.

By popular request entertainment was provided by local musician, Michael Faulkner, and four of his very talented piano and vocal students.

Books For The Belleville Firefighters’ Toy Drive

More than sixty books were delivered to the Belleville Firefighters today for their annual toy drive. We received a tour of the sorting facility by organizer, Ryan Turcotte, and were much impressed with the scope of the project. Some of the volunteers who were present have been active in this worthwhile community service for twenty or thirty years.

Garden Tour Cheque Presentation

Posted on Updated on

Yesterday, after a celebratory lunch hosted by Martha Griffin and Carol
Sayeau, the 2018 CFUW Garden Tour Committee held its wrap-up meeting.

One highlight of this meeting was the presentation of a cheque to Janet
MacDonald, Scholarship Trust Fund Treasurer, by Garden Tour Committee
Treasurer, Linda Connelly, in the record-breaking amount of $16,000.

In turn, in 2019, the Scholarship Committee will be able to award this
amount and more to deserving local students proceeding to college and
university.
