Belleville Firefighters’ Toy Drive

Thank you to the members who once again contributed children’s books for the annual Belleville Firefighters’ Toy Drive. Today we delivered eighty-two books to the collection warehouse. Thank you also to the Pints and Purls interest group for the selection of hats and scarves which were also donated.

Don’t forget to bring your items for the Silent Auction and a child’s book for the Belleville Firefighters’ Toy Drive. Last year they mentioned that they are often short of “chapter books” for older children.

Christine McClure, Water Resources Manager for QuinteConservation addressed our CFUW meeting on Thursday November 21st. In her talk Christine tackled the very complex topic of water levels in our area and the causes of flooding. Christine is seen here with Program Co-ordinators, Ardith Bennett and Sue Frizzell.

Scholarship Awarded

The CFUW  Belleville and District Scholarship Fund Bursary was recently awarded at a luncheon at Loyalist College. The recipient was Jessica Ganton, a Year 2 Environmental Technician.

The scholarship is awarded to a mature female student whose education has been interrupted and who has returned to school after an absence from the education system.
