National Asking for Volunteers to Complete Questionnaire

Posted on

CFUW is writing to introduce clubs to a National Initiative of a Status of Women Subcommittee. The initiative is a research project titled, “Preventing and Responding to Violence Against Womenand Girls: Sexual Assault Policies in Post-Secondary Institutions in Canada”. The purpose of the project is to determine whether post-secondary institutions have sexual assault policies and, if so, how do the policies work in practice. We are inviting individual members to participate in the project as volunteers by completing a questionnaire. This requires doing internet research towards finding sexual assault policies at post-secondary institutions, examining the policies, and completing a questionnaire about the policies.

Silent Auction

Posted on Updated on

The silent auction at the Christmas Dinner on Dec 1 was a great success. We had over 50 items including artwork, items for the home, decorations and lots of home baking. We had to ask for extra tables twice due to the number of items that were available. This is a great problem to have for a fund raiser. Based on what I saw, I think CFUW should open a baking booth at the farmer’s market – great opportunity to raise even more money!

We also held a raffle for a large basket of various goodies. The basket was won by Sue Frizzell and brought in $269.00.

Including the raffle and silent auction the evening brought in a total of $1,502.00.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make this a great event – Katrina Cross, Cathy Warren, Margaret O’Donnell, June Town, Susan Thomas, Sylvia Doyle, Julie Brown and Kim Leeman. The success of this really goes to you who helped the new-be.

Merry Christmas to everyone!
