Thursday night we proved how much fun we could have celebrating together over our Christmas meal, music and silent auction.
Our club has a longstanding tradition of donating children’s books to The Firefighters’ Christmas Toy Drive. Last year we collected 105 books, so it would be wonderful if we could match or even surpass this number. Please bring your donation of new books to the Christmas dinner. Books can also be dropped off at Susan Pine’s home, or call Susan to arrange for pick-up. The deadline for submission is December 11, 2014.
The November meeting was a continuation of our dialogue on club renewal. The facilitator was Brandi Hodge, Director, Community Engagement, United Way Belleville. The special guest was Robin Jackson, Executive Director, CFUW National who came from Ottawa to take part.

The scholarship committee is responsible for the Christmas Card Campaign this year. For a $25 donation, you will receive a charitable receipt and a beautiful Christmas card in thanks.
This year we have formed a collaboration with Journalists for Human Rights. Their scholarships for the Loyalist-Trent Summer Initiative supports 2 Aboriginal students who want to study journalism and practice it in their communities. This enables them to have a greater voice in Canadian media and gives them economic opportunities. The proceeds from this card campaign will go to support these scholarships.
Please support us in this endeavour! We will be accepting donations at the November general meeting and the Christmas Party.
You may also support the campaign by contacting Katrina Cross at firstname.lastname@example.org or Linda Richardson at email@example.com
Twenty members of the Book Exchange Interest Group met at the home of June Boudreau last night for the Annual Wine & Cheese AND Book Selection Party. Thank you to June, Mary Bould and Nancy McNaughton who are the organizers of this popular group which has five sections with twelve members each.
As we discussed the more than 40 books suggested in order to select 12 to be read during the year, we enjoyed the delicious sweets, savouries and beverages provided by our hostesses.
Thank you also to Irene Hiebert who gave us interesting and valuable insight into a number of the selections on the list.
